Personal Information


Keith McBrayer is a life long Henry County resident and graduated from Henry County High School in 1975 before attending Clayton Junior College .

He and his wife Susan have been married 27 years and have two children. Laura, who was recently married to Keith Booth of Kelleytown, is a special education teacher at Unity Grove Elementary in Locust Grove. Tracy is studying Criminal Justice at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.

Keith and his family are active members of Hampton United Methodist Church where Keith has served as Chairman of the administrative board for many years.

Keith McBrayer has served the citizens of Henry County for over 30 years with the Sheriff's Department which until 1991 provided all the Law Enforcement functions for Henry County. He began his career as a radio operator and was awarded increasing positions of responsibility and promotions. He presently holds the rank of Major and has held that position for the past 18 years while his responsibilities have expanded. Keith is currently the Field Operations Commander. From these positions he has gained a vast amount of experience in law enforcement and the unique prerequisites to function as a professional Georgia Sheriff.

Significant Accomplishments


  • Eagle Scout.
  • Implemented the Explorer Post sponsored by the Henry County Sheriff's Office that specialized in Law Enforcement. This Explorer post is still active after 32 years.
  • Held upper management positions in Henry County Law Enforcement for the past 25 years.
  • Has coordinated all Federal, State, and local Law Enforcement Officers for all Events held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the past 23 years.
  • Was instrumental in developing Henry County Employees Pension Plan.
  • Was instrumental in the creation of Henry County's first S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics) Team and was its first S.W.A.T. Team Commander.
  • Responsible for the Junior Deputy Program. This program touches 3,200 students each month teaching safety to 6 th graders in Henry County .
  • Responsible for McGruff the Crime Dog Program. This program touches 3,000 students each month teaching many classes to 2nd graders in Henry County .
  • Oversees the School Resource Unit in all Henry County Schools.
  • 32 years dedicated service to the citizens of Henry County .
