January 9, 2008 McBrayer Announces Run for Sheriff(McDonough) Henry County Sheriff's Major Keith McBrayer today announced the official start of his campaign for Sheriff of Henry County. “I have been making plans for the campaign for some time, but did not want to announce officially until Sheriff Donald Chaffin had announced his retirement. This was done out of respect for him and his many years of distinguished service to the citizens of this county” said McBrayer. “Sheriff Chaffin has served Henry County well and leaves a legacy of professionalism and he has always been an excellent steward of the taxpayer's money. Now that he's made it official, I can make it official as well. I am running to become the next Sheriff of Henry County, and today I'm going to start asking every voter in Henry County for their support.” McBrayer will qualify to run in the Republican primary, which will be held July 15, 2008. Keith McBrayer is a 32 year veteran of the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Keith's proven leadership abilities and commitment have earned him increasing responsibilities in the Sheriff's Office. He has devoted his entire career to the citizens of Henry County and has held the rank of Major for the past 18 years. “I entered law enforcement over 30 years ago because I wanted to keep Henry County the safest place for my family and yours. I am more committed to that mission today than ever before. I believe the position of Sheriff is one of public trust and with citizen support, I will put my experience to work for you.” McBrayer stated. The committee to elect Keith McBrayer will host a Kick-Off Breakfast for supporters, volunteers and contributors during a breakfast on January 19 at the Henry County Moose Lodge, from 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. “This breakfast will not only be a fundraiser, but also a chance for people to volunteer in the campaign or just stop by and show support, McBrayer said. Keith and his wife Susan have been married 27 years and have raised their two daughters, Laura and Tracy, in our great county. They are active members of Hampton United Methodist Church .
